Use What You Have

The easiest way to be frugal is to use what you have on hand already.

For instance, the sour cream pancakes I listed today over under ‘recipes’ is a great example. I know, I know, you’re saying to yourself ” I don’t have all those things on hand.”

Well, that’s where a little thinking comes into hand. I’d venture a guess that you’ve thrown out sour cream before all because your family didn’t finish it off. You probably bought a container for baked potatoes and then it sat in the back of the fridge until you tossed it, am I right?

Using what you have would have caused you to create or find something else to make with the rest of the sour cream, like these pancakes!

But, what about buttermilk you say? WHO has butter milk on hand?

Did you know you can make your own buttermilk substitute for most any recipe that calls for buttermilk? Yes you can!

Take a cup of plain milk. Add a tablespoon of lemon juice OR vinegar and let it set for a few minutes. Ta da - buttermilk!

While this matter can be very tough for most people, my thought is that there has to be a middle or common ground that we all can find. I do treasure that you’ve added relevant and rational commentary here though. Very much thanks to you!

Terrific piece you have prepared here! The web is overflowing of bad authorship and I was grabbed by your lucidity. Your determinations are dead-on and I will straightaway subscribe to your rss feed to remain up to date with your up future postings. Yes! I acknowledge it, your authorship style is fabulous and i will now work harder on improving mine.
