Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of USC. All opinions are 100% mine.

You graduated with a bachelors in teaching years ago and you know you should go back to school to get your masters. What’s holding you back? You should consider getting an online degree from the comfort of your own home.

There are many different places that you can choose to get an online Masters degree from, but did you realize you could get your Masters of Arts in Teaching from a prestigious university? The USC Rossier School of Education’s MAT@USC offers the convenience and flexibility of studying online from an internationally renowned research institution with a 100-year history of educating teachers to be agents of change. The School of Education has been ranked #22 in the US by the US News and World Report.

You get interactive teaching alongside field-based experiences WITH a tuition reimbursement program. With their accelerated program you can complete in as little as one year and end up as a member of the elite USC Trojan Family.

Teachers sometimes put off going for their masters due to time and family constraints. Teachers with masters earn about 10 grand more than teachers with just a bachelors degree. Check out the program information today. Isn’t it about time that you did something about your future earnings?

Fancy Food at sausalito hotels

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Someday, I think I might want to be the next “Pioneer Woman”, lol. Not only did she write a great cookbook, she got to travel to book signings across the US and stayed at some fancy places, and ate some fancy food.

The best thing about staying at fancy hotel IS the fancy dancy restaurants.

You get to try some amazing foods like a Chocolate Malt Brulee.. Wow, where would you even expect to find something like that here in the wilds of Oklahoma?

After you eat yourself silly you can go back to your ‘nice’ hotel room and lay in the big soft bed and watch a movie or fill the tub to near-overflowing with hot suds and soak awhile…… Course you could do that at home, but it’s just not the same, now is it?

Aw….. someday…. if I keep on cookin’….. and I keep on writin’… I just might make a cookbook tour too…

Only Your Hairdresser Knows

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Remember those old commercials? The one where the answer to the question “Does ’she’ color her hair?” was “Only your hairdresser knows for sure.”

Well, my hairdresser knows! Whenever I go into get my hair colored, YES, I color my hair! and she gets me in the shampoo chair, she always says something like, “Hmmm, I think I need to do your eyebrows.”

It always bewilders me, you see, I pluck every day. EVERYDAY. Maybe just one or two but there’s always something there.

The problem, you see, is, when you get a little older, you just don’t see up close as well as you used to. And you start ‘not’ seeing things, like stray eyebrow hairs.

I thought I solved the problem by getting some over the counter reading glasses. Not the case, it’s time to get some prescription reading glasses.

Do you realize that in this day and age that you can order them online? YES, and at a fraction of the price!

Only problem is, well, you need to know your PD (your pupillary distance), in millimeters. And your doc or the ‘eyeglass’ store just doesn’t want to share….

Course, you could go into the eyeglass store, ‘pretend’ you’re going to buy some eyeglasses and let them take the measurement. They’ll write it on the order for you. Then use your detective skills to read it ‘upside down’… THEN change your mind and leave with your info… LOL

Course that’s not very nice, is it? Why won’t the doc just give you the info? I mean, it’s part of what you paid for, isn’t it?

Chick-Fil-A

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

I had a couple of ten year old girls with me on Saturday, my lovely granddaughter, Jordan and her friend Ashlyn. They spent the night and we cooked hamburgers outside.

I let them make their own fixins and they weren’t shy!

Saturday, we went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. I don’t think Ashlyn had been there before. She ended up ordering nuggets and discovered they they are GREAT at Chick-Fil-A.

They deemed themselves too old to play in the playground…… but old enough to ask for a refill on their drinks and a to-go bag for the waffle fries. (We took them to some stray dogs….)

Then we went to Sams. I go there a lot but apparently never make it there during the lunch hour. Almost every aisle had a sample!

The girls were having a blast!!!!

The food vendors at Sams no longer are (for the most part) Sam’s employees. They work for an outside firm so the rules have changed. If you’re under 13, your parent must take the sample for the child….

Some people make a meal out of Saturdays at Sams! They do! They head there at lunchtime and make the rounds….

Frugal Menus

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

What are the best frugal menus?

Using food you already have in the house!

Never say there’s nothing to eat! There’s almost always something!

There might not be any food that’s prepackaged and ready to eat, but you can always find something to cook.

Still think there’s nothing?

How about homemade soup?

Soup doesn’t have to be thick and teeming with meat. You can start a pot of soup with water and a single solitary potato. Scrounge the pantry. Any last little bit of onion? Toss it in. A smidgeon of leftover ham? Toss it in. You can always add some dehydrated chicken broth, or hey one of those little flavoring packets out of that ancient pack of Ramen you have in the back of the cabinet.

OK - so let’s hope you aren’t ‘that’ desperate. Shop your pantry before you shop the store. You might have a can of something that you can make a meal around.

Folks that live in the country do it all the time. We don’t have a MCD around the corner, or a store for that matter! We cook out of the pantry!

Did you know that most manufacturers have coupons on their sites? Or newsletters you can sign up for that come with coupons?

Yes!

Visit your favorite brand’s website and look for the newsletter button and sign up!

You’ll save!

New Grill

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

There’s a new grill in the house (well outside the house) and we aren’t afraid to use it! This week’s menu will focus on meat cooked outside.

And hopefully, MANY meals will be cooked outside making my life in the kitchen just a little bit easier!

Spring Amusement Sales

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Did you know that many of the amusement parks and other attractions are having spring sales right now?

Some are offering a buy one get one, while others are offering season passes at very reasonable rates.

Some, like the NJ Amusement Rides are offering savings of a whopping 35 percent. Do you realize how many cotton candies, candied apples and corn dogs you can get for that much savings? Shoot, it’s enough to bring along a friend!

There’s nothing more memorable to a kid than a trip to an amusement park. They may not recall the whole event but every kid has a memory from having a blast at an amusement park.

Plan now for summer!

Poking Out

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of wellnessdaily.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

The daffodils are poking their heads out of the ground. Are YOU poking out of your clothes?

Now is the perfect time to get a hold of yourself, spring into action and do something about that roll, those extra inches, that weight. Summer is right around the corner. This year, vow to be able to wear shorts ‘in public’!

Got a buddy you can exercise with? For many of us, we live miles and miles from a gym, or exercise class. Neighbors, who can even ’see’ the neighbor? For us country gals, and the shy city girls, consider joining an online community of like minded people also on their way to their perfect healthy bodies.

One such online resource is www.wellnessdaily.com. Tons of health and wellness resources and as a bonus the first 25,000 can sign up for a $5 rebate! They even have a Twitter contest to win a year’s worth of Jennie-O Turkey products and a gym membership (valued at $1250). (The Twitter promo runs til March 10th)

Someone took a picture of me last week at a party. OMG - It’s time for me to take charge of my body and my weight and finally DO something about it! That’s my motivation! That and the fact that I might like to wear shorts to town on the hottest day of the year…

BRING IT ON - SUMMER!!!

Blogroll?

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Dark Chocolate

Ok so I’ve been doing this awhile but I still had to go look up the term “blog roll” ….. Apparently that’s the ’slang’ term for the list of fav sites over there on the left.

Hmmm, How do I add to that?

Might be time to ask my web person!
