What are the best frugal menus?
Using food you already have in the house!
Never say there’s nothing to eat! There’s almost always something!
There might not be any food that’s prepackaged and ready to eat, but you can always find something to cook.
Still think there’s nothing?
How about homemade soup?
Soup doesn’t have to be thick and teeming with meat. You can start a pot of soup with water and a single solitary potato. Scrounge the pantry. Any last little bit of onion? Toss it in. A smidgeon of leftover ham? Toss it in. You can always add some dehydrated chicken broth, or hey one of those little flavoring packets out of that ancient pack of Ramen you have in the back of the cabinet.
OK - so let’s hope you aren’t ‘that’ desperate. Shop your pantry before you shop the store. You might have a can of something that you can make a meal around.
Folks that live in the country do it all the time. We don’t have a MCD around the corner, or a store for that matter! We cook out of the pantry!
