The Eyes Go

Monday, September 19th, 2011

It happens to all of us.

Our eyes start to go, somewhere after age forty.

For a few years you can get by with pulling the item a little further away from you to read it. Soon you’re removing your regular glasses and trying to read product labels with the naked eye.

That works for a little while too.

Then the day comes when you peruse those reading glasses at the dollar store. They’re cheap and you grab a pair. Now assuming that you remember to take them with you when you shop, you’ll be able to read those labels.

For a while.

Then the day finally comes when you decide that IF you want to see the expiration date on a bottle of mile, or vitamins, that you’ll have to have prescription reading glasses.

Yes, it happens to all of us.

So, do you lay out a couple hundred for a pair of reading glasses that you KNOW you’re going to leave somewhere?

Nope, you get your cheap eyeglasses the way so many other people are these days, online. You get modern up to date style, quality workmanship and best of all affordability.

Then you can have a pair in the kitchen, in the living room, in the office, in the car and anywhere else you tend to leave them! I once lost a pair for DAYS and they were laying on a patterned potholder on the kitchen counter…!!!

Avoid the Aggravation

Friday, August 12th, 2011

I took Miss J back to school shopping this week, including a trip to a different store for her back to school supplies.

This store has a display up front with all the different nearby metro schools and their supply list.

Except for HER school.

We had to call her mother and have her connect to the internet to tell us the list over the phone!

Given a little more time (we were bad, we waited until just a couple days before school started to do this) we would have entrusted Savings.com coupons to find us bargain prices and discount codes for the goods, saving us the trip, and the aggravation of ‘all those other shoppers’!!!

We also did a little back to school clothes shopping too, again last minute…. We ended up in a little boutique type store that has nice prices and probably because it was pouring down rain, we were the only shoppers in the store.

The young ‘manager’ had the music cranked SO loud that we could hardly hear each other (Miss J & her Mom). I asked the ‘manager’ to please turn down the music a smidgeon.

Does that mean Miss J’s Mom and I are getting old?

:)

Avoid the aggravation if you can. Shop Online!!!

Google’s New Recipe Search

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

Google loves to change things up!

They’ve a new feature that has to do with recipes. If you type something into the search bar that looks like a recipe, then the ‘recipe’ search becomes active on the left side bar.

Sounds great.

BUT,

If you were to do a search for say my Olive Garden Style Gnocchi Soup recipe on Google, I come up 2nd. Whoo hoo! BUT, perform that same search on the ‘recipe’ section and I’m nowhere to be found.

The google results are geared more towards the big recipe sites and not individual bloggers like me.

It seems the big recipe sites use code that Google reads. Thank God that I have a great webguy to help me with that for future recipes.

Happy Purse

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

I’ve been bad.

OK, maybe ‘bad’ isn’t the right word.

I’ve been tired! There! Tired that’s it. I seriously thought that I’d have more time to do EVERYTHING on my list after the holidays but that didn’t happen.

My life just keeps getting busier and busier.

I actually cooked a meal from a box yesterday. The day before Chili-man cooked ‘breakfast’ for dinner. The night before, it was frozen lasagna.

What’s become of the real cook in the house?

Well, it’s time to prioritize. Time to delegate laundry, and dishes, and get back to the basics.

Time to load up those grocery store coupons, and make an actual list from a planned menu and stick to it. Time to make a true habit of looking for bargains in every aspect of shopping.

Clip those coupons from the Sunday paper, and look online for not just grocery coupons but online coupons for all the time saving online shopping that I do.

I have a place or two that are routine for me to look for online discounts and I have a new place too. I look for deals at Savings.com too!

Saving money always puts a smile on my face and makes my purse sing! Whether it’s a free shipping discount code, or an upgrade of shipping, or even a percent off coupon, all those add up to big savings!

In short, don’t buy anything without looking for a coupon! It’ll make your purse happy too!
