Oh, another thing, you don’t have to ’sell’ your shoes there - you can also sign up to swap shoes with someone else! And you have the option to say yes or no.

Come on, I know you all have shoes in the back of the closet that have never been worn! Shoes that you paid nice money for. Why not at least try to get a little something out of them?!

Jordan bought a necklace, earrings, a ring, a couple shirts, some perfume….

I got some dog blankets, some shelving units, some art supplies, some vintage finds, some gorgeous bowls….

When you see one in the same spot for a day or two, you just start to ‘feel’ for them. If you can stand it that long. That’s how I ended up with Rosie.

(Rosie was at an intersection on the highway, and her pup was laying in the grass nearby.)

But, you can’t take them ALL home!!!

I fed a black dog, that I named Rocky because he was always the corner of Rock Creek Road and 180th…. for over a year. I wasn’t the only person feeding him though and one of the others finally took him home.

I fed a brown dog down that same road for months.

As of late, it’s been a mama dog and her pup most likely displaced by the tornado earlier this year. We’ve watched the pup grow up on a corner. Sad, but again I wasn’t the only person feeding these dogs.

Yesterday, as I slowed down near their corner to toss them some food, I noticed the paper-lady’s car. She motioned me over and I stopped.

SHE had the two dogs in her car! Wow! That pair was skittish, didn’t think there was anyway someone could get them in their car. But she did!

She’d already named them too.

You’ll be glad to know that Princess and Teddybear now have a great home, with a kind lady.

Anyhow.

Before I could give it to her - I knew I needed to shine it up some. The grocery store still hasn’t gotten rebuilt from the tornado and I didn’t remember to pick any up when I was in town.

I can’t just run to the city for one little thing….

So I did the next best thing.

I started on the back and I dumped Heinz ketchup all over it and spread it out some and let it sit.

WORKS like a charm!

I think the acid in the ketchup gets rid of the dullness.

You don’t need expensive row covers to protect garden veggies from menaces. Instead, hit a few garage sales or thrift stores and buy old, sheer nylon curtains.

They’re cheap and will last for many years. Sheers repel hail and hot sun, yet they let in plenty of light, air and rain. After harvest, shake out the dirt, launder in hot water and store for the next year.

I’m even thinking about using as a ’slight’ shade cloth for my ‘maters’. This Oklahoma sun can get TOO hot!

Walk around - look for their markdown section - or ask your friendly salesperson. Bargains!!!! You can’t beat a big old bag of mulch for a buck!

Get yourself a used 5 gallon bucket. Old paint or drywall bucket works great! Secure it to a wall with the open side facing outward.

You can then wrap your garden hose around the outside of the bucket and use the inside for storage for nozzles.

You must return it promptly however, otherwise, this arrangement will not work.

You can peel a few cloves and place around the base of your rose bushes to deter aphids.

You can pulverize some garlic and make a spray to spray on your veggies…. keeps those bugs away. Or you could just plant garlic around the plants tht seem to be targeted. All these solutions work - and it might even keep a vampire or two at bay.

And my glasses weren’t on my face.

And they weren’t on top of my head.

And they weren’t tucked into the front of my shirt.

I’ve had THIS pair of glasses for years! They’re my fallback pair. The pair that feels good on my face…. my favorite pair.

I tried to backtrack through the store, trying to figure out ‘if’ I’d taken them off to read something…… I hadn’t had breakfast and I got to Sams prior to the ’sample hour’ so I was weak and starving and hot…. I turned that buggy around and retraced my steps.

Not by the potatoes, or onions, or ham…. Not by the bread…. not by the bottled water….. or the DP. Not where I wrestled that big bag of dog food into the buggy……

Hmmmm.

Then I thought that maybe, just maybe I’d left them in the car although that is something that I’d never done before…..

I paid and lugged the stuff to the car all the while figuring out how I was gonna get another pair like that one!

Last time I’d bought glasses I had the lady at the eyeglass store write the PD on the paperwork and I remembered ‘where’ my copy of that paperwork was. YEAH. This meant I could order another pair online without messing with trying to talk the doc or the eyeglass store into giving me the required info to order another pair of eyeglasses online…

NOT in the car…..

I unloaded the buggy into the back of the vehicle. Dog food first so that it could be the base for everything else to sit on. Ever tried to move a 50 lb bag of dog food when you’re bone-tired and weak from hunger & thirst….? Then the sodas. Then the bottled water.

THERE WERE MY GLASSES.

Oh well. Am I becoming that absent-minded? I’m betting I laid them on top of the paper towels (that were an e-value this week $3 off!!! - then forgot when I rearranged everything to get the sodas in there….
