Storing Water

How do you store water?

Maybe you don’t.

Maybe you should.

There are lots of what if’s out there. Could even be as simple as the well pump going out. Sure a well pump can be replaced but it’s not a quick job I can tell you that!

One time, the well pump went out and we had to pull it. Now this means HOURS at the very least without water, at the very least. My brother and nephew were over to help. At the time we had a couple of pygmy goats. I told my nephew NOT to pet the goats.

It wasn’t because the goats were mean, or because I was mean, it’s because male goats stink. When I say stink, I mean STINK! PEE UUUU

So what does a little boy do when do one is looking?

Pet the goats….

He was happy with himself for a while until he realized that his hands stunk bad. ***BAD***

Lucky for him I store water.

You can store non-potable water in old liquid laundry detergent bottles. That ever so slightly water makes good hand washin’ water.

You can store potable (drinkable) water in used 2/3 liter soda bottles.

A good treatment to keep the ‘bad stuff’ out of stored water is to 14 drops of plain bleach per gallon of water when adding to your home storage.

Stored water - it’s a good thing.
