Food Convention

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

The big food convention was today in downtown Oklahoma City.

You’ve never seen so many ‘white coats’ all in one place.

I happened to be on the elevator with a real chef and the sous chef from a nearby city. They were very friendly and happy to be away from their restaurant even if just for a day.

They were there for the cooking competition, prizes included cash and trophies. I even saw ‘men in white’ carrying their own personal knifes in monogrammed cases.

If you’ve ever got to attend a food show you KNOW how much fun that can be. I’ve managed to wrangle an invitation in years past and it’s like a giant sample kingdom.

Every single booth has a food sample for you to either eat right there or prepackaged for you to take with you. You come away filled to the brim and so is your plastic sample bag!

I wanted to ’steal’ a nametag and try to get in, but I didn’t. Hate to get arrested for impersonating a sous-chef.

This silly but partially true post, there WAS a food show today, and I DID meet a pair of chefs, and I HAVE been to the shows before, but I really didn’t think about ripping of their white coats and name tags, just to get in… … …was brought to you by electronic cigarettes.
